Quarters Painting
This is from a series of abstract paintings that are inspired by residential architecture near the natural boulders along the Joshua Tree National Park border in California. This area is a kind of artists' refuge, a place of freedom as well as meditation. I have referred to it as a kind of Deadwood town where unique exteriors are built seemingly without codes or restrictions, and I love how huge precarious rock formations seem to balance in mid-air. These pieces are created on birch panels, painted manila pattern paper, with fabric and oil paints.
